Twin Brothers Graduate as Valedictorians and headed to MIT together on Scholarship

In a momentous achievement for the Junction City School District in Arkansas, Alexis Peterson and Taykeetria Rogers have left an indelible mark on history as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the 2019 graduating class at Junction City High School. For the very first time in the annals of the Junction City School District, two Black female students, Alexis Peterson and Taykeetria Rogers, are graduating with the highest academic honors. Alexis, boasting an outstanding 4.0 GPA, stands tall as the valedictorian, while Taykeetria proudly holds the esteemed position of salutatorian. Their achievements signify a monumental milestone, not only for themselves but for the entire community.

In addition to her remarkable academic feats, Taykeetria Rogers has exhibited exceptional prowess on the basketball court. Recognized as all-conference and player of the year, she has triumphed over mental and physical hurdles, including two consecutive ACL injuries, to emerge as a resilient athlete.
