CEO, Lawyer, 2x Author, MBA, Multi-Degree Achiever, and Trailblazing Investor at 29

At just 26, Briya Brown has shattered barriers and made history as the first lawyer in her family. Earning a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in just three years—completing her studies a year ahead of schedule—Briya’s journey is a testament to perseverance, ambition, and faith.

Reflecting on her achievement, Briya shared on Instagram“No guidance, no blueprint… all on my own. I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer. Momma, I made it!”

A Journey of Resilience

Balancing a full-time job, running multiple entrepreneurial ventures, and taking consecutive semesters without breaks—including studying abroad and in other states—Briya pushed herself to excel. Her dedication resulted in graduating with exceptional grades despite immense challenges.

Briya’s resilience shone through during the global pandemic, a period marked by technical difficulties while taking the rigorous bar exam virtually. Yet, she triumphed, passing the exam on her first attempt.

She wrote, “God is so faithful and without Him I am nothing. I hope those coming through the pipeline behind me can see me as proof that anything is possible.”

Academic and Professional Excellence

Briya’s academic journey began at Salisbury University, where she earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish, alongside a minor in Latin American Studies. In 2021, she completed her Juris Doctorate and later earned an MBA in Leadership and Management in 2023.

Professionally, Briya specializes in immigration law as an attorney at Murray Osorio PLLC, where she advocates for vulnerable communities. Her passion for immigration law is deeply personal, inspired by her upbringing in a predominantly Latino community and her friendship with Maria, a childhood best friend and immigrant from Mexico.

Her professional achievements are complemented by her leadership roles in law school, where she served as President and Vice President of the Immigration Law Association and participated in various legal clinics to serve marginalized groups.

A Voice for Social Justice

Beyond her legal career, Briya is committed to empowering underserved communities through education, health, and wellness. She champions intergenerational mobility by promoting knowledge, financial literacy, and access to resources.

She explained, “The things I’ve accomplished at the age of 28 are simply due to me pursuing knowledge… I want progression, financial freedom, all-around health and wellness, and generational wealth to be a norm for minority communities.”

A Multifaceted Leader

Briya is also an entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, and two-time author. Her latest book, Surrender, reflects her spiritual and personal growth, emphasizing the importance of faith and letting go of fear.

Her professional accolades include being part of the 2% of Black women lawyers and the 5% of Black lawyers in the United States—a significant achievement that underscores her role as a trailblazer.

A Legacy of Hope

Briya’s story is not just about personal success but about paving the way for others. She serves as an inspiration to aspiring professionals, proving that with determination, faith, and community support, barriers can be broken.

Her words resonate with hope: “Be the change.”
