Dr. Mejury Chipato is a remarkable woman who has overcome humble beginnings to become a successful medical doctor and entrepreneur. She is the founder and owner of ProMJ Incorporated Company, a multi-faceted business that encompasses fashion, transport, farming and agriculture. She is also the founder of Patience of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that pays school fees for orphans and underprivileged children in Zimbabwe and across Africa. In addition, she is a pastor, a life and business coach, a mentor, a leader, and a published author of the book “I’m in charge of my Narrative.”
Dr. Chipato’s background is her source of motivation to succeed. She grew up in a poor family in Zimbabwe, where she faced many challenges and hardships. She had to work hard to pursue her education and achieve her dreams. She studied medicine at the University of Zimbabwe, where she graduated with honors. She then specialized in microbiology at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She currently works as a medical doctor at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Dr. Chipato’s passion for entrepreneurship led her to start ProMJ Incorporated Company in 2022. The company has several branches, including MJ Fashions, MJ Bridals, House of MJ, and Brand Merjory. MJ Fashions sells high quality clothes for men and women, MJ Bridals caters for weddings, House of MJ provides African clothing and products, and Brand Merjory produces stylish and classy shoes for modern women. Dr. Chipato’s fashion businesses have won several awards, such as the Zimbabwean Achievers Award for Fashion Designer of the Year 2021 (China Edition) and The Young Achievers Award presented by the Pride of Africa Awards.
Dr. Chipato’s philanthropic spirit led her to establish Patience of Hope Foundation in 2022. The foundation is named after her late mother, who was a source of inspiration and hope for her. The foundation’s aim is to empower orphans and underprivileged children in Zimbabwe and across Africa by providing them with access to quality education. The foundation also supports other causes such as health, sanitation, and women empowerment.
Dr. Chipato’s story is an example of how determination, hard work, and resilience can transform one’s life and impact others positively. She is one of the few African women who have excelled in both medicine and entrepreneurship. According to the World Bank, only 19% of firms in sub-Saharan Africa have female ownership. Dr. Chipato is among the minority who are breaking barriers and creating opportunities for themselves and others.
Dr. Chipato’s vision is to continue growing her businesses and expanding her impact locally and globally. She is also committed to sharing her knowledge and experience with others through her book, coaching, mentoring, and leadership programs. She hopes to inspire more young people, especially women, to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential.
