Precious Chioma Ugwoke is a Nigerian mother of four who has shown that it is never too late to pursue one’s dreams. She recently graduated from St Andrew’s Secondary School, Ibagwa-Ani, Nsukka LGA, Enugu state, after going back to JSS3 in 2018.
Mrs Ugwoke had dropped out of school years ago due to financial challenges and early marriage. She decided to resume her education after she had her last child, with the support of her husband, Ugwuoke Oloto Odobo, a former weapons instructor for the Nigerian Army.
She faced many difficulties and challenges as she balanced her roles as a mother, wife and student. She had to wake up early, prepare her children for school, attend classes, do assignments, study for exams and take care of her family. She also faced some ridicule and mockery from some people who thought she was too old to be in school.
However, she did not let anything deter her from achieving her goal. She worked hard, studied diligently and burned the midnight oil. On June 22, 2022, she wrote her last paper in the West African Examination Council Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE), thereby completing her secondary education.
Her husband shared the good news of her graduation on Facebook and expressed his pride and joy. He also revealed that his wife intends to go further and study law at the university level. He asked for the public’s continued support and prayers as they await her results.
Mrs Ugwoke’s story has inspired many people on social media who have commended her courage, determination and resilience. She has proven that age is not a barrier to education and that one can achieve anything with passion and perseverance.
She is a role model for many women who have given up on their dreams due to various circumstances. She has shown that it is possible to overcome obstacles and pursue one’s aspirations.
