Throughout her academic journey, Asia encountered discrimination, racism, and harassment because of her skin colour. She had to learn to speak “properly” after being teased for her thick southern accent. Nevertheless, she never gave up and continued to work hard towards her goals. She believes that the odds were never supposed to be in her favour.
Despite all these challenges, Asia announced that she is the first person in her family to receive a Master’s degree. This achievement is a significant milestone, and she hopes to inspire future generations in her family to pursue higher education. Asia expressed her gratitude to her family for their unwavering support, which helped her stay motivated and overcome the challenges she faced.
Asia’s success story is a testament to her determination and perseverance, despite the hardships she encountered. She encourages others to strive towards their goals, no matter how difficult it may seem, and to never let anyone minimize their achievements or reduce them to just their appearance.
