Africa Practice is seeking a full-time intern, enrolled in a Masters degree program, to join the team over the June — September 2023 period, for 8 weeks. This fellowship is funded by Google, to offer students interested in internet and tech policy the opportunity to contribute to the public dialogue on these issues, and to explore future academic and professional interests. This is the first year that Google has expanded the program to the Africa region.

Africa Practice is an Africa-focused strategic advisory firm operating at the nexus of industry and government.
Successful fellows will be invited to spend a week with Google, beginning 12 June 2023 (program offered in a hybrid mode), followed by a study-break internship for up to eight weeks working with Africa Practice. Fellows will spend their internship working on Google-related assignments, monitoring and analysing tech policy or political developments, drafting reports and white papers, attending government and industry meetings and conferences, and participating in other advocacy activities.
Johannesburg Role
Position: Intern, Emerging Markets Public Policy Fellowship (Funded by Google)
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Period: 8 weeks (June – September)
Start date: 12 June 2023 (first week i.e., 12 – 16 June spent with Google, flexible thereafter)
Type of contract: Full time, paid fellowship with Africa Practice
This in-person role is based in Johannesburg and will support the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs practice.
Lagos Role
