Established during Reconstruction shortly after the Civil War in 1868, Albany High School has a rich history spanning over a century and a half. Yet, until now, the distinction of valedictorian has eluded Black students. Onovu’s achievement is not only a personal triumph but also a profound symbol of progress and inclusion.
For Onovu, the journey to valedictorian was marked by dedication, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
